Is star rating applicable for alteration to an existing building projects?

Yes. In Victoria, Victorian Building Authority (VBA) continuously publishes and maintains practice notes to provide guidance on the energy efficiency requirements for new residential buildings for compliance with the Building Act 1993, Building Regulations 2018, and the National Construction Code. There are two practice notes that are directly related to residential buildings’ energy efficiency compliance:

• EE-04: Alterations to Existing Class 1 Buildings (link): This Practice Note provides guidance on the energy efficiency requirements via star rating for alterations to an existing Class 1 building projects.
