There are three methods to measure daylight access or daylight intensity in a room:
- Practical: with the use of a Light Meter or similar devices, one can measure light intensity in different parts of the room and extract an area-averaged light intensity
- Analytical: there is a set of simplified formulas that one can use to measure daylight access via a specific daylight metric, such as Daylight Factor, in a room. One of these formulas is discussed here.
- Computational: using computer-based tools, like DesignBuilder, one can undertake Daylight Modelling to assess the daylight access in a modelled room.
