Proposed Nail Salon @ Somerville, VIC – Section J Report
Services
Our added value
We were engaged in the project to conduct a Section J report containing minimum requirements concerning the energy efficiency for a proposed building Class 6 nail salon. Minimum insulation requirements associated with thermal bridging were reported to be R1.1 for the concrete slab, R0.8 for walls and R3.0 for the roof/ceiling. Single-glazing windows were enough to keep the proposed building facades reaching a maximum U-value of 2.0 as required by the NCC. We also proposed a JV3 assessment to:
1- Have clear windows instead of tinted; and
2- Avoid adding insulation to the concrete slab on ground; and
3- Have dark-coloured roof cladding instead of light-coloured (with solar absorptance of no more than 0.45)
