Project Description

Glazing cost was reduced by increasing U value from 1.80 to 2.84. This was achieved by adding 25% more insulation to the walls and 60% more insulation to the suspended floors (compared to R2.25 as per DtS).

Proposed residential dwelling (class 1a) is located in the city of Sorrento. It consists of 1 level with a net conditioned area of 205m2.

Through VURB method we managed to reduce overall glazing U-value by more than 40%.

Here are some more details on the degree of insulation and glazing thermal performance for the Nulla Vale project:

External shading All adjoining structures and features, window shading and shading devices have been incorporated into the analysis based on available drawings Master bedroom glazing (W24-W25): Adjustable shading device capable of restricting at least 80% of summer solar radiation.

Theatre glazing (W28): Adjustable shading device capable of restricting at least 80% of summer solar radiation.

Living glazing (W11-W12-W13-W14-W15-W16-W17): Adjustable shading device capable of restricting at least 80% of summer solar radiation.

Glazing Ground floor glazing:
U-Value: 1.80, SHGC: 0.43
W06-W08-W09 (8.6% of glazing):
U-Value: 2.41, SHGC: 0.64 All other glazing (91.4% of glazing):
